Thanks
to all of you who attended the Fall N.S.S.G. in Las Vegas! Congratulations
to everyone who participated in the certification!
The N.S.S.G.
training seminar held in Las Vegas was conducted by Larry Brooks - Sharp Edges/Hamaguri
USA and Uwe Eickert - Jarden Consumer Solutions. It was a great success
with good participation and questions and answers covering the mechanics, ride,
hone, and edging on convex and bevel edges with corrugation.
The
certification process went very smoothly with twelve sharpeners. The time
to repair one convex and one German bevel corrugated shear was 90 minutes.
All shears were turned in between 82 and 90 minutes. The last participant
handed the shear bag in with 20 seconds to spare.
There were 3
Guild Members and 2 Guild Master Sharpeners that certified. There was a
tight 20-point spread between 1st and 5th place. 1st place Guild Member
and Master Sharpener was presented to Craig Cazier. 2nd place Guild Member
and Master Sharpener is Joe Carson. 3rd place Guild Member is Barry
Chapman. 4th place Guild Member is Dennis Brooks. 5th place Guild
Member is Mark Holt. Congratulations and great job to all of you for a job
well done!
The
judges were Larry Brooks, Uwe Eickert, and Nick Cutter. The certification
is NOT a competition. The recognition of Guild membership is strictly
acknowledgement for a job well done. The identification of places 1st,
2nd, etc. is to honor them with recognition for their accomplishment.
I
would like to extend a personal invitation to everyone to attend the next
N.S.S.G. certification. All types of equipment and everyone are encouraged
to attend.
The
N.S.S.G. website is under construction, but please continue to check this page
for more updates!
Again,
congratulations to Craig Cazier!
